EPF AND ESI
Any type of organisation which is employing employees will have to understand the applicability of Laws with regards to PF and ESI.
ESI (Employee's State Insurance Act 1948)
ESI is compulsary for employing 10 or more persons. Earlier it was 20 revised to 10. ESI contribution is required for all the employees earning wages less than Rs 21000/- Per month (w.e.f 01.01.2017)
Rate of Contribution
• Employee: 1.75%
• Employee: 4.75% (Applicable on gross wages except on TA and Washing Allowance )
EPF ( Employee's Provident Fund & MP Act 1952 )
EPF (PF) is applicable to any establishment if the employee strength is 20 or more, Wage ceiling is Rs 15,000/- Per month (w.e.f 01-09-2014)
PF Contribution is applicable on Basic and DA.(Please refer the defenition of Basic Wage in Sec 2B of EPF Act)
